Swimming:No Pain, But Lots of Gain

Swimming is a low impact activity that has multiple benefits including; increases muscle mass, burns calories and has therapeutic qualities for athletes that are recovering from surgery or injury. Swimming provides a great low impact exercise that protects joints and muscles and is easy for people who just starting an exercise routine.

The next time you dive in the pool to cool off keep a couple things in-mind; you burn the same number of calories when you leisurely swim the breaststroke as walking or jogging. For the average woman, swimming the free style stroke vigorously for 30 minutes will burn about 350 calories. A swim in the pool has the same fat-burning benefits as going to the gym, but with less stress on your body. Happy Swimming!
