Who’s feeling the burn in this New Year? If you can’t see me I am holding up my hand, but barely because it hurts too much. I made a new years resolution for 2014 that included getting to the gym more and I am happy to report I have made it three times since the new year and my body is cursing me for it. Here is a shocker..If you haven’t lifted weights in three months you will have a hard time walking, going the bathroom, bending over to pick up..anything. In the words of George Takei, “Oh My“!
So I tried something that I have been hearing about for years. A hot bath with some Epsom salts to take the pain away. I placed 2 cups of Epsom salts into my free standing tub filled with hot water and soaked chest high for about 20 minutes. Yes the bath felt good, but it always does with my very hot water! I got out from my soaking tub and didn’t feel any different than I did 20 minutes earlier other than wet and still very sore! Yes the water felt a little softer and had some nice scent to it, but in the end I felt like the Epsom salts did nothing for me. So here is my question to our readers.. is adding Epsom salts to the bath for muscle pain a wives tale or did I do something wrong? I would love to hear your thoughts and comments on Epsom salts and if they truly do work for you! In the meantime, Here’s to 2014!
