NYC: Inside Dream Downtown hotel’s $5,000-a-night penthouse suite

Dream Downtown in New York City launched its modern $5,000-a-night penthouse suite at the first of the year, and it’s already booked for several nights in February.

The GuestHouse, as it’s called, is at the top of the
hotel‘s south tower in the city’s Meatpacking District.

Let’s cut straight to the cool stuff it has:

— A glass-bottomed stainless steel jacuzzi on an outdoor garden terrace

— A private spiral staircase to get to the terrace

— An entertainment system you control in any room from a mobile app, and…

— Your own Vibe Curator to help you choose music playlists and decide what to have on hand when you throw your next party.

At 2,500 square feet, the suite is bigger than most New York City apartments. The hotel spent $1 million to “create something edgy, bold, new and unrivaled,” designer John Held said in a statement.

Indeed, the GuestHouse has a spiral-motif charcoal plaster ceiling and a living room bookcase that hides a Murphy bed for additional guests. A walk-in closet and dressing area houses a bar that’s perfect for your next blowout or makeup appointment.

And just in case you get sick of the shoes you’re wearing, you can consult with a Sneaker Stylist to help you find and choose hard-to-get designs.

The boutique hotel at 355 W. 16th St. has 315 rooms and suites. Standard rooms start at $275 a night, a Platinum Suite will run you $545 a night or more, and the Junior Presidential Suite costs $2,000 and up.
